English Programme

Introduction

Our English program enriches learning beyond the classroom, immersing students in English across subjects like music, VA, PE, and science. This approach fosters practical use and exploration of the language in daily school life, building skills and confidence for effective communication globally.

Goals

We aim to integrate language learning into students' everyday experiences, fostering a deep appreciation for English through multidisciplinary activities and events. This enhances language skills while encouraging creativity and critical thinking, empowering students to become proficient speakers.

1. Strong Global English Teacher Team

Our team comprises Native English Teachers (NETs) from various countries, creating an engaging English-speaking environment. They co-teach with local teachers in PLPR-W lessons and actively facilitate communication, boosting students' confidence in speaking English.

2. Language Assessment Matching Programme (LAMP)

The LAMP program improves reading habits and abilities. Teachers assess reading levels using an international benchmark, pairing each student with a higher-level "Genie" for guided reading and discussions in the LAMP room, ensuring access to suitable reading materials.

3. Diverse English-Themed Activities

We host diverse English-themed events throughout the year, including Halloween and Christmas celebrations, where students participate in themed activities and competitions, promoting language skills through fun engagement.

4. English Advanced Class Option

Students can enroll in English Advanced Classes at each grade level, aimed at those eager to enhance their skills. Selection is based on various criteria, allowing students to study subjects like math and arts through English, preparing them for secondary school with challenging assignments.

5. Extracurricular Activities and Competitions

We offer extracurricular activities like English drama and video filming, enhancing language skills and creativity. Participation in competitions, such as the Speech Festival, showcases student talent, with notable achievements in recent events.

6. English Fridays

Each week, we celebrate "English Fridays" with activities like booth games and spelling bees, encouraging casual conversations with NETs. Students enjoy English songs and participate in mini-games led by School English Ambassadors, fostering a love for the language.

7. Library Lessons

Library lessons are integrated into the timetable to promote reading. Students gather in the LAMP room for curriculum-related book readings, followed by time to explore and borrow books, cultivating daily reading habits and a love for literature.
